Outsourced Electronic Design Provides Specialist Support and Project Based Resources

Innovators, SMEs and even large OEMs may not always have the in-house design resources to meet workload demands or have the specialist expertise and design tools required for a particular project. In many cases the most efficient and cost effective response to such circumstances is to outsource the design requirement. Outsourcing a design or even part of a design can free up customer’s own resources to continue with existing projects.

LDD Technology have the knowledge and experience to take a project from concept to production-ready design and prototypes or provide an individual service including schematic design, PCB layout, FPGA design and embedded software development.

LDD offer a flexible and responsive service tailored to match individual customer requirements providing as much input into a design as is required. LDD can design to meet a detailed specification or design a ground-up solution to meet the needs of a concept with just the overall requirement being known.

Established over 25 years LDD Technology provides a range electronic design services to meet the needs of a wide range of customers from development houses to major international OEMs. Outsourcing electronic design offers OEMs control of costs and delivery time of projects and security of design over the life of a product, ensuring updates may be managed with ease and end of life to be planned.

LDD can provide high complexity designs for customers and has the experience and capability to undertake designs from a simple stand-alone boards to complex multi-board, mixed signal, multi-technology projects for harsh environments. Their goal is to become and integrated part of customers own design teams and have many such long term relationships in both commercial and defence markets.

Malcolm Locke, Managing Director of LDD Technology, comments, “Customers sometimes underestimate the complexity of a new project and find themselves running out of time or even ideas to complete a new design. Or they might come to us with just an idea which we can usually realise into an end product. We try to work with our customers in a way that means we are involved early to ensure a more elegant and better end product.”

About LDD Technology

LDD Technology was founded  1994 with the aim to use the founder’s skills and experience gained whilst working for Marconi to provide an expert electronic engineering and development service to companies in an efficient and flexible way. Initial contracts were sourced from the MoD and Marconi and now include commercial OEMs and the development of general purpose DSP boards for leading COTS suppliers. Over the years LDD have expanded their design team, skills and customer base and the company continues to grow.

As the business has grown LDD have moved premises twice and now have their own spacious premises situated in rural North Dorset providing an ideal environment for the designer team to work on their latest projects

Designing Robust 5G Power Amplifiers for the Real World

Sponsored by Keysight

Simulating 5G power amplifier (PA) designs at the component and system levels with authentic modulation and high-fidelity behavioral models increases predictability, lowers risk, and shrinks schedules. Simulation software enables multi-technology layout and multi-domain analysis, evaluating the impacts of 5G PA design choices while delivering accurate results in a single virtual workspace. This application note delves into how authentic modulation enhances predictability and performance in 5G millimeter-wave systems.
