Infineon’s EZ-USB™ FX10 controller unlocks performance acceleration of 5-meter passive metal cable by 3M for USB3 vision cameras

Munich, Germany – 5 December 2025 –Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY), a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT, and 3M (NYSE: MMM) collaborate to introduce a new 5-meter passive metal 3M™ Industrial Camera Cable Assembly 1U30P-TC series for USB3 vision camera capable of transmitting data at speeds of up to 10Gbps specifically designed for Machine Vision (MV) cameras. In modern industrial automation systems, MV systems play a crucial role in controlling processes, quality, throughput, and detecting deviations in the manufacturing process. By combining Infineon’s EZ-USB™ FX10 peripheral controller technology with 3M’s expertise in Machine Vision cable innovation, the new 5-meter passive industrial cable by 3M for USB3 vision cameras delivers superior data transmission speeds over extended distances without signal degradation.

“The collaboration with 3M reinforces Infineon’s ambition to drive a strong partner ecosystem and technology innovation to accelerate digitalization,” said Athar Zaidi, Senior Vice President & General Manager Power ICs and Connectivity Systems at Infineon. “By combining our expertise in USB peripheral controller solutions with 3M’s knowledge in Machine Vision cable innovation, we create solutions that address real-world challenges and enable manufacturers to optimize their production lines, improve product quality, and increase overall efficiency.”

“As next-generation semiconductors continue to push the boundaries of performance, the demand for reliable, high-speed signal transmission is greater than ever,” said Tatsunosuke Inami, Director Global Industrial Electronics Interconnect Portfolio at 3M. “3M is committed to providing advanced cable harness solutions that ensure optimal signal integrity and enable seamless integration with cutting-edge semiconductor technologies. By collaborating closely with Infineon, we aim to help accelerate market adoption and expand new application opportunities”.

Infineon’s EZ-USB FX10 peripheral controller powers the USB3 Vision cable from 3M with cutting-edge USB 3.2 PHY technology engineered for extreme performance. The solution features a 28dB insertion loss capability, programmable transmitter optimization, and advanced receiver equalization, ensuring reliable data transmission even in electrically noisy industrial environments. The integrated eye monitor provides real-time signal quality feedback, simplifying troubleshooting and system validation. This enables the 5-meter passive metal industrial camera cable of transmitting data at speeds of up to 10Gbps, making it an ideal solution for demanding MV applications. The cable eliminates the need for active repeaters or signal boosters, reducing complexity and costs while maintaining compliance with the USB3 Vision standard.

The extended 5-meter passive capability opens new possibilities for flexible camera positioning in manufacturing environments while maintaining the high-speed data transmission essential for real-time MV applications. Immediate applications include quality control systems, automated manufacturing lines, intelligent factory deployments, and MV systems in challenging industrial environments, such as automotive manufacturing, electronics production, food processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
