Curtiss-Wright announced today the introduction of PacStar 424 Tactical Gateway, a rugged, modular networking solution that delivers integrated high-speed 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and multi-network bonding capabilities at the edge. As the newest member of the PacStar 400 product line, PacStar 424 enables secure, flexible communications across cellular, terrestrial, satellite and tactical IP radio networks without reliance on fixed public infrastructure.
“PacStar 424 provides secure, high-speed connectivity in a rugged, modular form factor that ensures continuous communications in denied, disrupted and infrastructure-limited environments,” said Roark McDonald, Vice President and General Manager of Tactical Communications, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. “In an era where technological advantage can shift rapidly, the ability to rapidly deploy resilient network capability at the edge is fundamental to sustaining operational effectiveness.”
Built on top of high-performance dual-SIM cellular modem and gateway technologies, PacStar 424 functions as a flexible communications gateway, securely routing IP traffic across available transports including 5G, LTE, satellite and tactical radio networks. By supporting private or public cellular networks and enabling WAN link bonding, the module maximizes bandwidth utilization while maintaining reliable data flow across multiple paths. Integrated Ethernet interfaces provide stable wired connections to LAN devices as well as interfacing with Ethernet capable WAN devices such as SATCOM or MANET, supporting resilient system-level performance at the edge.
As service branches modernize communication architectures – US Army NGC2 and US Marine Corps Project Dynamis, for example – the need for connectivity at the tactical edge becomes more critical than ever. PacStar 424 is ideal for a wide range of mission profiles, including:
• Command post communications: Providing primary or backup 5G backhaul for mobile operations centers.
• Networking-on-the-Move (NOTM): Ensuring continuous connectivity for ground-mobile forces.
• Unmanned systems: Delivering high-bandwidth links for remote sensor data and video telemetry.
PacStar 424 integrates seamlessly with existing PacStar 400 product line systems, enabling technology insertion with minimal disruption to deployed architectures. Customers can extend advanced wireless capability within a proven ecosystem of rugged compute and networking modules, reducing integration risk while accelerating deployment timelines.
