Comcast’s MachineQ Launches New Device to Digitize Lab Equipment Display

MQdisplay 4b Enhances Lab Asset Management Solution

July 24, 2025

MachineQ, a Comcast Company, today announced an extension of its lab asset management solution with the launch of a new device that will digitize a routinely paper-based process in the life sciences sector.

The MQdisplay 4b is an e-ink display device that provides pharma companies with a digital solution for tracking, managing, and displaying critical equipment data. It eliminates the need for manual updates to paper asset tags, helping employees to manage and maintain accurate, up-to-date records. This device also helps provide lab staff with real-time data needed to follow timely calibration and maintenance schedules, which can assist them in managing quality controls.

The MQdisplay 4b complements the company’s existing indoor asset tracking and asset utilization solutions by providing lab managers and users with greater visibility into equipment information. By integrating with customers’ computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or other business applications, the device enables real-time, dynamic status updates to be displayed on the easily accessible digital interface. This functionality simplifies the monitoring of asset maintenance and calibration data, thereby helping to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy in lab environments.

“This solution is about more than digitizing a label—it’s about transforming how lab teams improve operational readiness and access critical equipment data in real-time,” said Steve Corbesero, Jr., Senior Director of Product & Solutions at MachineQ. “By integrating with our broader MQinsights platform, the MQdisplay 4b empowers customers to build a smarter, more auditable lab environment that scales.”

Featuring a 4.2-inch three-color e-ink display, interactive push button, and flexible mounting options, this LoRaWAN®-enabled device offers high visibility with minimal power consumption, supporting a battery life of up to five years. The MQdisplay 4b is optimized for high-density indoor environments, such as pharma labs, and can be easily deployed across multiple labs without extensive infrastructure.
