Bourns Announces New Micro Encoders Offering High Reliability in a Compact Design

The PEC04 and PEC05 Series along with Model PEC06 all feature an IP40 rating offering a rugged, space-saving position sensing solution for a wide range of electronic devices

RIVERSIDE, Calif., August 4, 2025 – Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, today announced its PEC04 Series 4 mm Incremental Micro Encoder, its PEC05 Series 5 mm Incremental Micro Encoder and its Model PEC06, a 6 mm Incremental Micro Encoder. Bourns® new micro encoders provide position and speed information essential for control functions in a broad variety of electronic applications.

The Bourns® PEC04 Series is designed for use in today’s more compact consumer electronics such as micro headphones and smart wearable devices, and the Bourns® PEC05 Series is an optimal incremental encoder for mouse wheels, smart home appliances and smart wearable devices. In addition, the Bourns® Model PEC06 micro encoder is an ideal solution for smart home appliances and desk lamps, enabling designers to elevate the reliability of these next-generation intelligent devices.

The new micro encoders have an impressive IP40 rating for dust, feature a 30k, 50k and 20k rotational cycle rating respectively and a -20 °C to +70 °C operating temperature range in a rugged, compact surface mount design. These micro encoders also offer a 2-bit quadrature code output and 360-degree continuous mechanical angle. These features and capabilities make these micro encoders well-suited for space-constrained consumer electronics designs.

The Bourns® PEC04 and PEC05 Series as well as the Model PEC06 Incremental Micro Encoders are available now through Bourns’ authorized distribution partners, and are RoHS* compliant. For more detailed product information, please see: bourns.com/products/encoders/contacting-encoders.
