Timesys Announces LinuxLink for i.MX6x SABRE Lite Board from element14

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Timesys Corporation (http://www.timesys.com), provider of the industry’s most-easy-to-use and affordable embedded Linux products and professional services, today announced the availability of its award-winning LinuxLink framework for development on the Freescale i.MX6x SABRE Lite Board from element14. The addition of LinuxLink support for SABRE Lite further enhances Timesys’s broad support for Freescale i.MX Applications Processors.

The SABRE Lite board from element14 is a low-cost, high-performance development platform featuring Freescale’s i.MX 6Quad Application Processor. With LinuxLink for i.MX 6 Series, developers designing embedded Linux products around the SABRE Lite board will have access to an integrated board support package (BSP) that enables them to evaluate the i.MX 6 Series processor before committing to a custom design. The complete design solution will be available for purchase globally from element14 later this calendar year.

LinuxLink for i.MX 6 Series customers now have a comprehensive, east-to-use and cost-effective embedded Linux solution for creating, customizing, deploying and debugging embedded Linux software projects, including rich multimedia interface applications. They’ll have access to award-winning and comprehensive Linux development tools, and expert support and professional services that will enable them to significantly shorten their time to market and reduce development costs.

Customers can start building custom Linux board support packages and matching software development kits (BSPs/SDKs) for their development kit in minutes using the LinuxLink FREE Edition for SABRE Lite which includes:

  • Kernel, toolchain and debugger
  • Wizard-based interface which enables developers to:
    • Easily choose their kernel, software packages and tools
    • Build a custom BSP/SDK ready to run on their development kit
  • First line of support by Timesys for build / boot issues
  • Free SDKs to help jumpstart application development
  • 30-day access to TimeStorm IDE for application development
  • Demo code for a seamless out-of-the-box Linux experience
  • Access to hundreds of open source software packages

For advanced customization and integration needs, customers have the option to easily upgrade to Timesys’s commercially supportedLinuxLink PRO Edition which enables advanced platform and application development.

Through Timesys’s commercial offering, customers can leverage all i.MX 6x Series hardware accelerated features, including media framework, in their custom embedded Linux design and can modify all aspects of it. Customers can also leverage integrated development tools and SDKs and easily develop state-of-the-art UIs using the Qt framework, available in Timesys tools.

In addition, customers can further shorten their time-to-market by utilizing Timesys’s just-in-time professional services.
