Allinea Software unveils support for Intel® Xeon® Phi™ Product Family at ISC12

Hamburg, Germany, 2012-06-18, The Intel® Xeon® Phi™ product family based on Intel® Many Integrated Core (MIC) architecture represents a leap forward in performance and compatibility. With the ability to run over a trillion calculations per second, it is more important than ever to have an easy-to-use, scalable and dependable debugging toolkit – Allinea DDT.

Support for the Intel MIC architecture will be available by Allinea Software with the first release of the Intel® MIC architecture product – Intel® Xeon® Phi™ family) in the second half of this year.  Intel® Xeon® Phi™ has been designed for highly-parallel workloads and will scale to over 50 Intel Architecture cores. Among a wide range of uses, it will be particularly important in the field of climate simulation, oil exploration, financial analysis and scientific research.

A number of systems will deploy this first version in early 2013, including the Texas Advanced Computing Centre (TACC) at the University of Texas at Austin. Their system, Stampede, will be a 10 Petaflop/sec HPC Linux cluster, powered by a combination of Intel Xeon processors  E5-2600 product family and Intel® Xeon® Phi™ coprocessors,  expected to be one of the most powerful computers in the world.

“We are pleased that Allinea Software has developed support for the Intel MIC Architecture and will be a valued resource for users of supercomputer systems using this exciting architecture” said James Reinders, Director of Parallel Programming Evangelism at Intel. “The first products from the new Intel® Xeon® Phi™ product family, based on Intel MIC Architecture, bring a new capability to supercomputer performance and power efficiency without sacrificing programmability by staying true to the flexibility of today’s Intel Xeon processor based systems. Allinea Software highlights this by extending their popular solutions in a manner that is completely familiar to users on today’s Intel Xeon processor based systems.”

“Allinea Software leads from the front in tools for HPC – with our proven record of creating the development tools for new architectures”, said David Lecomber, CTO. “Developers will be able to code with confidence knowing that Allinea DDT is ready to debug their applications from the very start – from one node through to Petascale and beyond!”

Allinea Software will unveil its support for debugging applications on the Intel® Xeon® Phi™ products with Allinea DDT at International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) 2012, Hamburg, June 18-20 2012. There will be opportunities to see the software in action with live demonstrations at the Allinea Software booth (#734) and a theatre presentation at the Intel booth.
