Frontier Silicon launches the Venus 2i Bluetooth audio platform at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair

Hong Kong, 13th April 2012: Frontier Silicon, the leading supplier of digital radio and internet audio solutions announces the launch of Venus 2i-BT bringing Bluetooth music streaming to DAB/DAB+ radios.

The addition of Bluetooth connectivity to the Frontier DAB platform develops the widely adopted Venus 2i platform into a fully featured solution for wireless docking systems with the benefit of digital and FM radio as an additional audio source. The Venus 2i-BT presents the most versatile, scalable and cost effective DAB plus Bluetooth platform available.

Venus2i-BT utilises the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) to allow wireless Bluetooth transmission of stereo audio from an A2DP source (typically a phone or computer) to its audio system. To allow for remote track selection and advanced media playback features the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) is also implemented.

Venus 2i-BT provides a flexible and scalable platform with a number of functions and capabilities that can be mixed and matched to produce a wide range of audio devices to suite different markets, including:

  • DAB, DAB+, DMB-R and FM radio
  • iPhone docking
  • Bluetooth streaming
  • Bluetooth remote control
  • Multiple language display (including Chinese)
  • Alarms and sleep timers

“Bluetooth audio is becoming an important feature in the market as the concept of wireless docking gains in popularity.” said Steve Evans Frontier Silicon VP of Marketing and Business Development, “Our initiative to make Bluetooth part of our leading DAB/DAB+ platform will ensure that our customers can extend the capabilities of their products to meet this trend.”
