Connect One First to Unveil Miniature WiFi Module for Embedded Linux and Windows at Single-Digit Price

Nuremburg, Germany, February 28, 2012 —Connect One™, the Device Networking Authority™, today announced Nano WiReach™ USB, a miniature WiFi module that immediately brings wireless connectivity to consumer devices not originally intended to support wireless functionality. Because integrated CPU and memory manage the wireless LAN functions on module, Nano WiReach boasts robust, high-speed, 802.11n-compliant wireless LAN for home gateways, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, printers, medical devices and other products. Nano WiReach USB is priced at less than $10 per unit.

For the first time, consumer manufacturers gain a fully compliant, fully certified WiFi module that operates at high-performance speeds at a single-digit price point. With Nano WiReach USB’s innovative host-offload capability, this wireless LAN module delivers blazing PHY rates of up to 150 Mbps. Autonomous, seamless operation transparently supports a number of features designed to boost performance—internal diversity switch that selects antenna 1 or 2 for baseband signal processing as well as unparalleled WPA2 security with WEP, TKIP and AES encryption in hardware.

“Connect One is proud to be the first to offer a WiFi module with no cost or performance tradeoffs,” noted Erez Lev, Vice President Sales at Connect One. “With Nano WiReach USB, we deliver the best-performance WiFi solution on the market at an unprecedented price point. Yet again, Connect One has truly made WiFi affordable for any embedded consumer application with zero design risks.”
Nano WiReach USB comes with full developer support. The Nano WiReach USB has a full driver support package for Linux, Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP, enabling complete compatibility and flexibility for the product designer. As well, Nano WiReach USB is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11d, 802.11e, 802.11i and 802.11n. With very simple integration via a 4-pin header for the USB interface, this module cuts months off the design cycle of a wireless product. A broad temperature range of 0° to 70°C (32° to 158°F), RoHS compliance, and small size (3.0 x 1.5 x 8.8 cm) all contribute to Nano WiReach USB’s easy implementation.

Availability and Evaluation Board

Nano WiReach USB will be available in April 2012 for production for under $10 per unit. The II-EVB-410 evaluation board, priced at $160, provides an easy environment for developing applications and testing Nano WiReach USB.
