Agilent Technologies to Demonstrate LTE, Multi-Standard Radio, MIMO Test Solutions at 4G World

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 19, 2011 – Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced it will showcase a number of innovative test solutions at 4G World Oct. 25-27 in Chicago, The demonstrations will focus on LTE, Multi-Standard Radio measurements (MSR), MIMO, and wireless link analysis using its X-Series signal analyzers. Agilent will also demonstrate RF network field analysis using the company’s handheld RF tools.

Agilent is a leader in electronic test and measurement and an active member of the 3GPP committees and WiMAX Forum®. The company provides the industry’s broadest portfolio of innovative design and test solutions, services and support, spanning R&D, design verification, manufacturing, protocol conformance and interoperability test, as well as network deployment and maintenance.

Agilent will demonstrate the following solutions at 4G World:

RF Microwave Bench and Field Test Tools

Agilent’s handheld spectrum analyzer (HSA) family and the Agilent N9923A FieldFox RF Vector Network Analyzer make RF bench and field test easier. The Agilent HSAs, covering frequencies from 9 kHz to 20 GHz, have the features needed for operating in tough field environments. Their measurement performance gives engineers the confidence that the job has been done right. The N9344CN9343CN9342C and N9340B HSAs automate routine tasks to save time and ensure consistent results.

The Agilent FieldFox is the world’s most accurate handheld vector network analyzer with the best measurement stability in the industry. The N9912A is the world’s most integrated handheld for wireless installation and maintenance with seven instruments in one.

The N9344C and N9343C handheld spectrum analyzers—two field-ready instruments designed for technicians and engineers who install, maintain and troubleshoot RF/microwave systems—are ideal for monitoring the spectrum and managing interference while in the field.

Multi-Standard Radio and MIMO OTA

Ideal for engineers manufacturing base stations and base-station components, the new Agilent MSR N9083A/W9083A measurement application for the X-Series signal analyzers enables one-button, standards-based testing per the RF requirements defined in the TR 37 series of the 3GPP Release 9 standard. The MSR application allows engineers to build a multi-format, multi-carrier signal from single signal generator with any combination of FDD LTE/LTE-Advanced, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA+,GSM/EDGE/EDGE Evo, cdma2000/1xEV-DO or perform transmitter test on any combination of LTE-FDD, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ and GSM/EDGE/EDGE Evolution signals. It is the first and only 3GPP-compliant one-button measurement application on the market today to quickly and easily manufacture MSR base stations and base-station components.

Wireless Link Analysis

The new 89600 WLA software is a MAC-layer complement to the company’s industry-leading 89600 VSA software. The seamless combination of vector signal analysis and wireless link analysis gives system-integration and verification engineers greater visibility into the increasingly complex and dynamic interaction between the MAC and physical layers in product designs based on today’s wireless standards. The WLA software provides wireless link analysis decoding control and feedback messages and then correlates them with the physical-layer signals they manage.

MIMO Test

The Agilent N7109A combines modular N7100 Series measurement hardware with the MIMO capabilities of the industry-leading Agilent 89600B VSA software. The combination enables fast, informative measurements of devices that range from 2×2 to 4×4, and leaves room for future evolution beyond four channels.

LTE UE R&D Test

The Agilent PXT wireless communications test set , the industry’s most versatile LTE test instrument, can be used to test RF parametric performance, functional end-to-end data throughput and Inter-RAT handovers. It also can be used to create protocol messages and log/analyze protocol signaling. Agilent’s solutions include bench-top instruments, software for automating parametric and functional tests, and the GS-8800 design verification test system. The PXT’s flexibility can also be combined with the N6070A for LTE signal conformance test that meet the industry’s Test Platform Approval Criteria.

LTE UE Manufacturing Test

With fast measurements and flexible test sequencer techniques, the Agilent EXT wireless communications test set works in synch with chipset test modes to speed calibration and verification of the latest smart phones and other wireless devices contributing to manufacturing cost reductions.

Agilent will demonstrate all of its new innovative solutions at the 4G World Conference, at McCormick Place, N. Building, Hall B1, Booth 819, in Chicago.
