andersDX extends UI platforms with multi-OS, enclosed, ARM®-based panel PC

LONDON, UK – 20 September 2011. andersDX, market leader in the field of user interface (UI) technologies, has launched its first series of fully enclosed, ARM®-based embedded display platforms. Bringing together an embedded computer and touch display, the new DX-E family features durable metal enclosures and supports Android, Linux and Microsoft® Windows® CE operating systems. Display sizes range from 6.5” to 15”, while a choice of flexible mounting options includes clamp, VESA and patented magnet-mount frames for visually stunning ‘in wall’ mounted displays without visible fasteners or screws.

Designed for optimal driving performance, the new slimline DX-E series of fully certified, industrial grade embedded displays provide a host of embedded functionality and on-board connectivity. The platforms are ideal for automation, security, medical and other applications that demand rugged control panels. OEMs can choose scratch-resistant anodised brushed aluminium front bezels and one of the versatile mounting options or specify open frame versions for integration into their own product enclosures.

The DX-E series features 6.5”, 8.4”, 10.4”, 12.1” and 15” display sizes as well as 7” and 10” widescreen formats. All are available with 4-wire resistive or capacitative touchscreens. As standard the platforms feature 256MB of DDR2 memory and 512MB of NAND Flash for storage of user data. On-board connectivity includes four USB host controllers, two RS-232 interfaces (one switchable between RS-232/422/485), a LAN connection, a CAN bus interface and a micro-SD card slot. Wireless LAN and audio output connections are available as options and bezel colour, graphics, ‘splashscreens’ and electronics can all be customised for specific applications. Samples of DX-E available now, together with source code, binary test images, configuration scripts, board support packages (BSPs) and schematics.

Rob Anders, andersDX CEO comments: “When approaching the design of our first ‘enclosed’ UI product, we wanted a truly flexible offering which would meet the needs of multiple sectors and usage scenarios. We wanted high performance ARM computing, excellent graphics and optical performance, multiple OS options and stunning design and ruggedness which could be mounted or integrated in many different ways. Say hello to DX-E which has it all!”
