Adjustable Shunt Regulator Operates Over a -55°C to 150°C Junction Temperature Range

MILPITAS, CA – August 2, 2011 – Linear Technology Corporation announces a new high reliability MP-grade version of the LT1431, a three-terminal adjustable shunt voltage regulator that operates over a -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range. This device has a 100mA sink capability, 0.4% initial reference voltage accuracy and a ±1.4% maximum voltage drift over temperature. On-chip divider resistors allow the LT1431 to be configured as a 5V shunt regulator. By adding two external resistors, the output voltage may be set to any value between 2.5V and 36V. The nominal internal current limit of 100mA may be decreased by including one external resistor.

Active output circuitry provides a very sharp turn-on characteristic, making this device an excellent replacement for Zener diodes in many applications such as onboard regulation, adjustable power supplies, and isolated switching power supplies. The LT1431 MP-grade is available in an SO-8 plastic package and the 1000-piece price starts at $6.49 each. For more information, visit www.linear.com/product/LT1431MP.
