VIA Launches Vision Intelligence Display (VID) Series, Digital Touch Screens for Embedded Applications

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, February 22, 2011 – VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced the VIA VID series of industrial-class touch screen displays designed for a range of modern interactive kiosk, POI and POS embedded systems, extending VIA’s position as a total system and embedded component provider.

Available in both ruggedized and open frame configurations, the VIA VID series spans 7 inch to 19 inch form factors and offers excellent compatibility with VIA embedded systems, added longevity support, complete scalability and a robust feature set ideal for commercial and industrial deployment.

VIA VID Series Digital Touch Screen Displays

VIA VID Series displays are available in both ruggedized and open frame configurations. All ruggedized configurations feature IP65 water resistance compliancy and operating temperatures of -10°C to 70°, ideal for harsh industrial environments. VIA VID displays feature a robust aluminum chassis, available in a range of colors.

Supporting SXGA mode display resolutions of up to 1280 x 1024 pixels, VIA VID series displays feature the latest in bright LED backlight technology with a range of 7 inch to 19 inch TFT LCD panels, screen brightness of up to 600cd/m2 and wide viewing angles of up to 178°. TFT LCD technology brings up to 30% power reduction compared to conventional CCFL backlight LCD. A 5-wire USB-based resistive touch interface offers excellent responsiveness for interactive display applications. 

All VIA VID displays support both HDMI and 15 pin D-Sub VGA ports and additional mounting options for hard drive and Wi-Fi modules. VIA VID displays feature 75mm and 100mm VESA mounting support for easy and flexible device installation as well as dedicated support for optimized integration with VIA EITX-3001 based systems and VIA AMOS 3001 box PC products. VIA VID displays also offer an on-screen display panel that includes keys for source selection, menu and LED and power buttons.

VIA VID series displays are available now in 15 inch and 12.1 inch ruggedized and open frame configurations. 19 inch, 10.4 inch and 7 inch SKUs will be available later this year.
