A team of researchers led by Prof. Young-Tae Chang from National University of Singapore and Prof. Yoon-Kyoung Cho from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Korea, developed a fluorescent caffeine detector and a detection kit that lights up like a traffic light when caffeine is present in various drinks and solutions.

MIT’s new software increases the speed and flexibility of multi-material 3D printing

Until now, 3D printing an object with multiple materials meant giving the printer a very high-resolution image that specified the type of material to be used for each particular section. Throw in differences in texture, size, color and surface properties and you have a computational nightmare that can involve storing and processing petabytes of data to print even a small object.

Open House unfolds to become a 100-seat open-air theater

American conceptual artist Matthew Mazzotta has joined forces with the Coleman Center for the Arts and local residents from York, Alabama to convert an old abandoned house into a transformable open-air theater. Dubbed, Open House, the structure which looks like a simple wooden home, actually features separate sections that fold open to create a unique outdoor space, catering for 100 patrons.

Horse Association must accept clones on registry

The American Quarter Horse Association has been ordered to accept cloned horses into its registry by a jury in the courtoom of U.S. District Court Judge Mary Lou Robinson. They were sued by a pair of Texas breeders, who said the organization’s practice of excluding cloned horses was monopolistic. The judge did rule on awarding costs to the breeders, who spent some $900,000 on the case.
