Actel’s RTAX-DSP FPGAs Achieve MIL-STD-883 Class B Qualification

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 19, 2010– Actel today announced that its radiation-tolerant RTAX-DSP FPGAs have completed qualification in accordance with the military and aerospace industry standard MIL-STD-883 Class B specification. This qualification expands Actel’s support of high-speed signal processing applications for space payloads and exemplifies its ongoing innovation and commitment to serve designers of spaceflight systems. RTAX-DSP FPGAs offer designers the same reliability characteristics as the widely-adopted RTAX-S FPGAs, and also include enhancements to improve tolerance to radiation-induced single-event transients. When compared to radiation-hardened ASICs and SRAM-based FPGAs, RTAX-DSP FPGAs give designers a compelling alternative for signal processing applications in … Read More → "Actel’s RTAX-DSP FPGAs Achieve MIL-STD-883 Class B Qualification"

Actel’s CoreFIR v4.0 Delivers Configurable Digital Filter Generation for RTAX-DSP With On-Chip Math Blocks

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 19th 2010 — Actel Corporation today announced CoreFIR v4.0, leveraging the embedded radiation-tolerant multiply-accumulate blocks provided in Actel’s recently qualified RTAX-DSP FPGAs (see Actel’s RTAX-DSP FPGAs Achieve MIL-STD-883 Class B Qualification). RTAX-DSP FPGAs integrate radiation-tolerant math blocks with the spaceflight-proven industry-standard RTAX-S FPGA architecture. CoreFIR v4.0 utilises these on-chip resources to implement a highly parameterizable, single-rate, fully-enumerated Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter, delivering one of the essential building blocks in DSP systems.

As opposed to high throughput DSP technologies used on SRAM FPGAs, Actel’s antifuse based RTAX-DSP devices are radiation tolerant and … Read More → "Actel’s CoreFIR v4.0 Delivers Configurable Digital Filter Generation for RTAX-DSP With On-Chip Math Blocks"

Xilinx Launches First High-Density, Rad-Hard Reconfigurable FPGA For Space Applications

San Jose, Calif. July 19, 2010 – Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) today launched the industry’s first high-density, rad-hard reconfigurable FPGA for withstanding radiation environments encountered by applications ranging from low earth-orbiting satellites to systems supporting inter-planetary missions. The off-the-shelf Xilinx® Virtex®-5QV FPGA offers the industry’s highest density, performance and integration capabilities for complex systems that would otherwise require rad-hard ASIC devices with their high development costs and long lead times, or traditional one-time programmable (OTP) solutions. The unique combination of rad-hard and re-configurability enables a tremendous reduction in risk to … Read More → "Xilinx Launches First High-Density, Rad-Hard Reconfigurable FPGA For Space Applications"
