TenAsys® Announces Support for New Intel® Atom™ Processor E6xx Series

Beaverton, Oregon – September 14, 2010 – TenAsys Corporation (www.tenasys.com), a leading provider of real-time OS and virtualization software, announces that it has validated the company’s INtime® for Windows® real-time  operating system (RTOS) and its eVM™ for Windows Embedded Virtualization Manager for use on the new Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series.

The Intel Atom processor E6xx series delivers an unprecedented level of I/O flexibility by departing from proprietary interfaces such as FSB and DMI and moving to the open, industry standard, PCI-Express as the processor-to-chipset interfaces.

“TenAsys’ real-time operating system and embedded virtualization technologies are fully aligned with Intel’s strategy for adding virtualization support to the Intel® Atom™ processor series,” said Kim Hartman, TenAsys Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “We’re excited to see the proliferation of advanced Intel® architecture technologies in the Intel® Atom™ processors that provide different cost/performance/functionality options for use in embedded and time-critical applications.”

TenAsys’ INtime real-time operating system (RTOS) runs alongside Microsoft Windows on Intel architecture processors, providing deterministic support for real-time processes while Windows handles human-directed tasks.  The company’s eVM for Windows embedded virtualization manager enables different guest operating systems to run along with Windows in the same Intel architecture system, preserving determinism and enabling system cost reduction by integrating into a single platform the computing environments that have typically required multiple platforms in the past.

“It is important that deterministic real-time support is available for our customers who also want to run Windows,” said Jonathan Luse, director of marketing for the Intel Low Power Embedded Products Division. “The Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series delivers enhanced capability for virtualized platforms in the low-power embedded space, combining the necessary platform architecture with low power consumption to enable ever-smaller virtualized designs.”

TenAsys will be participating in the Intel Developer’s Forum, showing applications running on INtime and Intel processors in the Embedded Community Pavilion.
