Movea Delivers Most Complete, Highest Accuracy, Lowest-Power Sensor-Hub Evaluation Kit for Mobile Devices

Barcelona, Feb. 25, 2014 – Movea, a leader in data-fusion and motion-sensing technologies, announced today the availability of its first SASH (Smart Architecture Sensor Hub) evaluation kit – the most complete, lowest-power sensor-hub evaluation kit available. SASH-1, built on STMicroelectronics’ STM32F401 microcontroller and powered by Movea’s SmartMotion™ technology, is an Android 4.4-based evaluation kit that lets OEMs and application developers get to market fast with immediate access to the broadest and most advanced set of features.

SASH-1 is a complete software and hardware package on a Nexus phone including Movea’s optimized embedded algorithms that deliver ultra-low-power features, allowing developers to unlock the potential of a trillion sensors into a million applications. It performs all 9-axis always-on motion processing required by Android 4.4 on the stand-alone sensor hub, offloading the processing tasks from the application processor.

Movea’s SASH-1 is the first to offer unparalleled, always-on functions at ultra-low power consumption, including Android 4.4 requirements and beyond:

  • Significant motion detection <40mW
  • Step counting <100mW
  • Activity monitoring and context awareness  <300mW
    • Cadency, speed and distance when walking and running
    • Energy expenditure
    • Context detection for walking, running and in transport
    • Extensive library supporting a wide range of sports at >95 percent
  • Pedestrian Dead Reckoning  <1.8mW
    • Step cadency, distance, heading, floor detection enabling best trajectory performance

“Consumer demand for more advanced and context-aware applications is skyrocketing, and Movea is meeting that demand head-on with this industry-leading technology,” said Sam Guilaume, CEO of Movea. “Our SASH-1 is unlike any other technology out there, providing the user with an unrivaled, context-aware experience. From detecting users’ speed as they walk down the street to recognizing when they are on the train, this sensor-hub evaluation kit provides developers with an opportunity to turn this sensor data into meaningful information for new, always-on applications. Movea’s high-accuracy algorithms on the latest Android software release is leading the movement for enhancing the end user experience while driving down power consumption.”

Now available, you can see SASH-1 in action at MWC in Barcelona, from February 24 to 27. Please drop by the Movea meeting room 7P2MR in Hall 7 or schedule an appointment by contacting movea@racepointglobal.com.
