ASHBURN, Va. – September 18, 2025 – Curtiss-Wright today introduced the AXN/PPI/401, a new passive Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector module for its Axon™ family of flight test instrumentation (FTI) systems. The AXN/PPI/401 allows up to three Axon Pico data acquisition units (DAU) to be daisy chained directly from an Axon chassis, at full excitation load, removing the need for a separate PoE injector box and enabling more compact, integrated system configurations.
“Our new AXN/PPI/401 module gives FTI engineers maximum architectural flexibility when designing, troubleshooting and modifying their flight test systems,” said Darian Wong, General Manager, Aerospace Instrumentation and Integrated Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. “By integrating power injection into the Axon chassis, engineers can architect compact, efficient configurations and get high-quality data acquisition closer to the sensors faster – supporting critical mission requirements with less installation overhead.”
The AXN/PPI/401 draws power from the Axon chassis backplane to supply PoE to a chain of Axon Pico units located up to 50 meters away. Multiple modules can be installed in the same chassis to support additional Pico chains, giving engineers greater flexibility in system design. Ideal for both compact and distributed architectures, it simplifies installation and enables DAUs to be positioned closer to sensors in space-constrained areas.
Key Features of the AXN/PPI/401 include:
- Enables PoE power injection for up to three Axon Pico units from a standard Axon chassis
- Eliminates the need for a separate PoE injector box
- Supports Ethernet communication via pass-through to network switches or controller modules
- Extends Pico deployment range up to 50 meters from the chassis
- Integrates seamlessly into existing Axon systems for minimal design impact
The AXN/PPI/401 is the latest addition to Curtiss-Wright’s Axon product line, a compact and rugged FTI system architecture built for high data accuracy and minimal footprint. It offers a new way to streamline system design, enhance flexibility, and improve deployment efficiency for aerospace test programs.
