Curtiss-Wright Selected by TORC Robotics to Provice Rugged Small Form Factor Ethernet Switch for Unmanned Ground Vehicle

AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2016 (BOOTH #873), NEW ORLEANS, La. – May 3, 2016 Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that it was selected by TORC Robotics to provide its small form factor (SFF) rugged COTS Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch subsystem for use in autonomous tele-operated unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Curtiss-Wright provided TORC with its rugged, SFF Parvus® DuraNET® 20-10 Ethernet switch. Optimized for size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C), this fully managed 20-port network switch delivers comprehensive Ethernet management, security, and reliable design features sought by aerospace and defense platform integrators.  Units ordered by TORC were delivered in 2015 and successfully integrated into TORC UGV platforms.

The SWaP-C optimized and rugged DuraNET 20-10 switch features 20-ports of non-blocking, fully managed GbE switching for reliable LAN networking across extended temperature ranges (-40 to +71C) and extreme shock and vibration conditions. The unit serves as an ideal solution for connecting a large number of IP-enabled embedded devices at the network edge, including computers, cameras, sensors, and command-and-control equipment onboard aircraft and vehicles deployed with digital networked architectures. Able to reliably perform in the harshest conditions, this rugged LRU is fully validated to MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-1275D, MIL-STD-461F, and RTCA/DO-160 for civil and military use. 

Curtiss-Wright manufactured the products covered by this agreement at its facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The products were shipped to TORC Robotics in Blacksburg, Va.
