Advantech Launches Compact, High Performance PICMG 1.3 Half-Size System Host Board

Irvine, CA, March 17, 2015—Advantech, the leading supplier of industrial systems, today announced its PCE-4 series, a breakthrough product line employing PICMG 1.3 half-size form factor and support for Intel® work station-grade CPUs which offer a higher base frequency than desk-top CPUs and ECC memory support. The first product, PCE-4128, supports Intel® 4th generation Xeon® E3, Core™i7/i5/i3 CPU and is equipped with 4th-gen Intel® C226 with ECC memory support offering an ideal solution for high performance industrial applications.

PCE-4128 fulfills the needs of applications requiring compact size, high performance and flexible expandability such as machine vision and automation, DSP compact systems, high-end CNCs, medical equipment, video walls, machine vision, and edge servers for factories and transportation. For instance, PCE-4128 with PCE-4B13-00 delivers one PCIe x8 and eleven PCIe x4 expansion capabilities, perfect for Datapath video cards executing video wall applications. And with PCE-4128 and the PCE-4B12-03 backplane, customers can realize high-end machine vision as well as product automation in one system–a system that supplies dedicated expansion design for graphic computing, vision capture and motion control.

Compact Size But with Speedy Computing Power

PCE-4128 is highly compatible and integrates well with a variety of Advantech compact size systems, including IPC-6806S and IPC-3026, both of which save space by approximately 60% when compared with full-size systems. PCE-4128 also goes well with mainstream, 4U, short-depth rackmount systems such as ACP-4020; this combination provides 27% space savings compared with full-size 4U rackmount systems and with easier cable routing. In terms of computing performance, the 4th generation Intel® CPU provides on average 5-15% better computing power in comparison with previous platforms and delivers a 30% increase in graphics and media performance when compared with the previous generation. Thus, it caters to the demands of an array of market segments. Substantial improvements in PCE-4128 include support for SATA3.0 and USB 3.0 which double the bandwidth and increase data speed up to 10 times faster than the previous generation.

Half-size System Host Board Provides Security and Flexible Expansion Capabilities

As mentioned above, performance and power enhancements are great features of this PICMG 1.3 SHB. Moreover, its expansion flexibility, supporting PCI, PCIe x1, PCIe x4, PCIe x8, and PCIe x16 make the PCE-4128 even more attractive. For medical or other applications, add a graphics card, video wall display card, capture card, DSP module, motion control, I/O control, or special data acquisition card. In addition, it supports triple displays, dual LANs, four SATA IIIs and ten USBs, with abundant I/O flexibility that serves industrial applications and purposes. What’s more, PCE-4128 carries an m-SATA socket which is suitable for high-end CNC or motion controller, delivering high-performance even in a high-vibration environment. PCE-4128 carries an embedded TPM module and Type A USB for software dongle installation, offering a very safe computing environment. The PCE-4128 meets the widest range of demands covered by all PICMG 1.3 half-size Slot SBCs.
