Kistler Multi-Component Force Plates Support Clinical Gait, Running and Balance Analyses

March 26, 2013 – Novi, Michigan, USA – Kistler (www.kistler.com), a worldwide supplier of precision sensors, systems and instrumentation for the dynamic measurement of pressure, force, torque and acceleration, has announced the Type 9260AA, a portable multi-component force plate, designed to make high-accuracy measurements of ground reaction force, moment and center of pressure, in support of clinical gait, running and balance analysis applications.

Design of the Kistler Type 9260AA incorporates the use of a multi-component piezoelectric force sensor, offering a Fz measurement range of up to 5 kN, while ensuring very low cross-talk and excellent center of pressure (COP) accuracy. The force plate features a compact, lightweight aluminum composite top for a total weight of less than 22 pounds (10 kilograms), allowing for portable use on any flat surface. The top plate may also be covered with any type of flooring material without negative effects on offset or linearity.  The unit is available in two sizes, as either the Type 9260AA6 (500 x 600 millimeters) or the Type 9260AA3 (500 x 300 millimeters). The sensor connector is located underneath the force plate, allowing for ease of installation with reduced setup time and maintenance costs. Kistler’s long-term product reliability and stability result in a lower overall cost of ownership, as compared to traditional measurement systems.
