Every time the space shuttle is launched it loses its solid rocket boosters and external fuel tank as it ends up in orbit. During reentry the tank breaks up during and bits of it land over the Indian Ocean. The boosters, however, parachute to safety and are picked up by a ship so they can be used over again.
