First-ever manned flight of an electric multicopter takes place in Germany

By now, most readers are probably pretty familiar with quadracopters – small hovering unmanned electric aircraft, which get their lift from a set of four propellers. Well, make the whole thing larger, boost the number of propellers (and accompanying motors) to 16, and you get what German aircraft developer e-volo calls a multicopter. Tohoku Japanese Earthquake Sculpture by Luke Jerram

The “Tohoku Japanese Earthquake Sculpture” by British artist Luke Jerram is a visualization of seismometer readings from the March 11 catastrophic earthquake. Jerram converted nine minutes of seismometer readings to a 3D cylindrical design, which was then 3D printed. The sculpture will be on display at the “Terra” exhibition at Jerwood Visual Arts in London, November 9 to December 11.
