Excelsys Xgen Power Supplies Now Conformal Coated for COTS/MIL Applications

July 2010 – Excelsys Technologies, the world leading specialists in high efficiency configurable power supplies announces the availability of conformally coated versions of its market leading Xgen user configurable power supply range. Having been extensively HALT tested for resistance to shock and vibration and characterised over their extended operating temperature range these ruggedized versions of the Excelsys Xgen series are ideal for COTS/MIL applications and extreme industrial installations.

Boasting industry leading power density of 17W/in3 and incredible efficiencies of 90% in a 1U package the Xgen series provides power solutions from 200W-1450W and sets the standard for highest performance in the smallest package size.

Excelsys Xgen power supplies are available with high temperature ratings, -20ºC to +70ºC, low operating noise versions, medical approvals and now ruggedized and conformally coated for Military and Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.

Output voltages may be specified from a very wide number of PowerMods including nominal output voltages of 2.5V, 5.0V, 12.0V, 24.0V, 48.0V, and 24/24V. As all modules are isolated polarity is user selectable and modules may be configured in series or parallel for higher output voltages or current. The Excelsys Xgen series has a universal input range, 85-264VAC and over voltage protection. All possible configurations carry full safety agency approvals, UL60950, EN60950 and are CE marked.

Dermot Flynn, Director of Sales for Excelsys Technologies comments; “All versions of our very successful Xgen configurable power supply family can now be conformally coated as an option making suitable for naval applications or applications in harsh environments including military. Excelsys are market leaders in the 1U power supply market and offer unparalleled operational efficiency and user convenience.”

Excelsys products offer a unique combination of low loss technologies, the best field-proven planar magnetics and a high degree of surface mount assembly to ensure ultra-high efficiency and reduced system thermal load, more than 50% less than conventional designs.

Typical applications for the conformally coated versions of the Excelsys Xgen power supply range include vehicle and ship based communication and IT systems, industrial control systems and test and measurement equipment.

New Rugged Power Meters from Teseq

July 2010 – EMC immunity testing makes very specific demands on RF power meters. A large dynamic range, fast measurements, rugged design and a frequency range that matches the application are some of the unique requirements for power meters in an EMC test environment.

TESEQ, the leading developer and provider of instrumentation and test systems for EMC emission and immunity testing, announces the introduction of The PM 6006 power meter which has been specially designed to meet these demanding requirements.

Two models are available. The PMU 6006 is designed for connection via the USB interface and is supplied with Windows-based control software. In addition to having different graphical display modes available, the software provides averaging, offset use, and the ability to switch units to dBm, dbμV or V. It can also handle simultaneous readouts of multiple power meters. The PMU 6006 is powered by the USB connection.

The second model is the PMR 6006, designed for direct connection to the recently introduced Teseq ITS 6006 Immunity Test System. Up to three power meters can be connected and the power measured can be read by either the ITS 6006 software utility or by optional Test House Software.

Common specifications are frequency range 1 MHz to 6 GHz, linear measurement range -45 to +20 dBm, RMS power using log detector, low voltage detection. Both power meters feature a ruggedly designed metal casing and have LED indication of power on and measurement activity.

Paul Dixon, Managing Director of Teseq Ltd comments;”These new power meters add to our extensive EMC testing capabilities giving our customers the flexibility to make stand alone measurements or buy into one of our comprehensive suites of test systems and software.

Teseq provides a traceable calibration certificate with all of its products and accredited calibration services are also available from TESEQ calibration labs upon request. For further information please call 0845 074 0660, email uksales@teseq.com or visit TESEQ’s website at www.teseq.com
