SOSA-Aligned 100GbE VPX Storage Boards Developed by Annapolis Micro Systems

Annapolis, MD (February 14, 2020) – Annapolis Micro Systems, a leading FPGA board and systems supplier, has developed next-generation 100GbE Storage Boards that are SOSA™-aligned and VITA 65-compliant. They are designed to handle the highest bandwidth and highest density data recording requirements.

The WILDSTAR™ 6SN0 6U OpenVPX Storage Board features 64.0 TB of capacity in a single 1” 6U slot, and up to 10 GB/sec read/write bandwidth. The 6SN0 is now shipping.

The WILDSTAR™ 3SN0 3U OpenVPX Storage Board features 32.0 TB of capacity in a single 1” 3U slot, and up to 5 GB/sec read/write bandwidth. Orders are now being accepted for 3SN0, with shipping starting in June 2020.

Greater depth and bandwidth are readily attained via multiple Storage Boards.

These boards feature a powerful Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+™ MPSoC, which allows for standalone operation, and for several interfaces that can operate simultaneously. Options include PCIe, Aurora, 40/100GbE, and user-defined protocols.

The MPSoC also delivers multiple levels of hardware and software security.

Industry-leading bandwidth is made possible by 25Gbps+ FPGA transceivers and high-density MULTIGIG RT3 backplane interconnects, which deliver 100Gb per fat pipe. VITA 66 optical I/O is available to the backplane or front panel.

Annapolis Storage Boards are built for reliable deployment in harsh environments. They feature a rugged design and are available in industrial temperature grades, with air, conduction, air-flow-through, or liquid cooling. The boards are hot swappable and backplane connectors are rated for 10,000 insertion cycles.

“We are committed to developing the highest-performing SOSA-aligned products that are first to market,” said Noah Donaldson, Annapolis Micro Systems Chief Technology Officer. “Our first SOSA products were FPGA Processing Boards, but these Storage Boards and 100GbE Switches are close on their heels.”

The 6SN0 and 3SN0 Storage Boards are readily integrated into any SOSA-aligned VPX system, or deployed within Annapolis’ proven WILD100™ EcoSystem.

The WILD100 EcoSystem is an interoperable portfolio of rugged high-performance 100GbE COTS boards and systems. Other notable WILD100 products include:
