Panasonic high-density, long-distance pyroelectric motion sensor from TTI

New passive infrared pyroelectric (PIR) motion sensor extends existing range; improves detection sensitivity over long distances

July 2018 – TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components, now offers a new high-density, long-distance Panasonic pyroelectric sensor that complements and extends the EKMB and EKMC series of PIR Motion Sensors (PaPIRs).

It is ideal for use in all types of lighting control equipment, offices, high-bay motion sensors for warehouses, public and industrial buildings plus street lighting and security cameras.

The lens is designed with an additional lip that allows fast integration into IP-rated applications, by using, for example, an o-ring construction. The quad-sensor-based design with a very high detection zone density of 128 guarantees a reliable response even over large distances. The detection area is circular and symmetrical and this simplifies sensor integration because of the independence of sensor orientation within the final product.

Lens diameter is only 20.45mm yet the detection distance is up to 17m, and detection area is 16m at an installation height of 12m. The lens is available in white, pearl white, and black with an open-collector digital and operational amplifier analogue output.
