Battery Chargers Get Faster and Smaller with Patented Diode Technology from STMicroelectronics

Geneva, June 10, 2014 – STMicroelectronics’ new family of Field-Effect Rectifier diodes (FERD) offers a unique trade-off  between low forward voltage drop (VF) and low leakage current (IR) that allows designers of equipment such as battery chargers and notebook adaptors to meet the most stringent energy-efficiency standard requirements without the expense of using synchronous rectification techniques.

Standards such as Energy Star 6.0 test the limit of what can be achieved with conventional Schottky diodes in … Read More → "Battery Chargers Get Faster and Smaller with Patented Diode Technology from STMicroelectronics"

1.8V STM32 Microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics Bridge Mobile-Platform Subsystems

Geneva, June 11, 2014 – The latest STM32 microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics are specific low-voltage devices that help overcome the challenges designers face when adding a companion chip to a low-voltage host processor. These focused low-voltage microcontrollers connect to the same digital power domain as the host, such as a 1.8V power supply, while allowing on-chip peripherals to operate from higher voltages such as 3.3V, giving freedom from the usual performance trade-offs that come with lower supply voltages.

Chassis mount supply provides programmable voltage and current down to zero

XP Power today announced the HDS3000 series of 3000 Watt programmable AC/DC power supplies. The series compliments the existing 800 Watt and 1500 Watt versions and comprises seven single output models providing all the popular nominal output voltages from + 12 to + 60 VDC. These highly efficient supplies, up to 93%, allow the output voltage or output current to be programmed from 0 to 105% of nominal output by a variety of means. Digital communication can be made via I2C or RS232 serial interfaces and analog controls include using a 0 to +5 VDC input voltage or by using an external resistor.
