Curtiss-Wright announces major upgrade to PacStar 455 tactical data storage server

Enhanced rugged storage platform delivers up to five times faster data throughput and four times the storage capacity for data-intensive edge applications
ASHBURN, Va. – Mar. 31, 2026 – Curtiss-Wright announced today announced a major upgrade for PacStar 455 – a rugged, high-performance virtualization and storage platform that provides high-capacity network attached storage (NAS) for deployed edge environments. The enhanced PacStar 455 delivers up to five times faster read and write performance and four times the storage capacity of the previous version, enabling users to capture, store and access large volumes of mission data in real time to enable faster, more informed decision making.
“Modern military operations generate enormous volumes of sensor and intelligence data that must be captured, protected and accessed without delay to help users make more timely, informed decisions,” said Roark McDonald, Vice President and General Manager of Tactical Communications, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. “The enhanced PacStar 455 is a direct response to customer requests for greater storage capacity and faster data throughput in the same rugged, compact footprint, helping ensure operators do not experience bottlenecks that could harm the mission.”
The enhanced PacStar 455 introduces support for as many as eight enterprise-class NVMe E3.S solid-state drives, providing significantly higher storage density and faster data access compared to legacy SATA-based storage systems, and ten times more storage capacity than similar products on the market, while maintaining the smallest physical footprint of any NAS server on the market. A new toolless removable drive design simplifies maintenance and system servicing in field environments. Combined with an Intel® Ice Lake processor, the system delivers improved compute performance for virtualization and other data-intensive applications.
To further protect critical information, PacStar 455 incorporates advanced Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) technology to distribute data across multiple drives to ensure continued availability if a drive fails. This approach improves resiliency and eliminates common storage bottlenecks, enabling organizations to maintain access to critical data such as maps, surveillance video and intelligence files during demanding operations.
PacStar 455 is an ideal platform for a wide variety of edge use cases in forward deployed settings including:
  • Advanced cloud replication, application virtualization or hyper-convergence
  • Application performance acceleration
  • General purpose NAS storage
  • Satellite/GIS imagery caching
  • Video serving/storage
  • Cybersecurity applications with large storage requirements such as package capture, NetFlow analysis, SIEM, DLP, or threat analytics
  • WAN optimization
As US service branches modernize communication architectures – efforts highlighted by US Army NGC2 and US Marine Corps Project Dynamis, for example – the need for data storage and processing in the disconnected reality of the tactical edge is becoming more critical than ever.
PacStar 455 integrates seamlessly with Curtiss-Wright’s PacStar 400-Series modular platform using the company’s patented interconnect architecture. The PacStar 400-Series ecosystem provides flexible deployment options including briefcase, transit case, rack mount, vehicle mount and backpack configurations, enabling customers to tailor systems for a wide range of operational requirements, providing the best in small size, flexible power, and environmental ruggedness. Curtiss-Wright also offers a wide array of system packaging options for the PacStar 400-Series, including briefcase, transit case, rack mount, vehicle mount, and backpack transport, or custom-designed to meet any customer use case.

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
