Cadence Achieves Amazon Web Services Industrial Software Competency Status for Its Cloud-Hosted Design Solution

Cadence also achieves Advanced Technology Partner status in the Amazon Web Services Partner Network for demonstrating cloud leadership in the electronic systems and semiconductor space

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 18, 2018—Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced that its Cloud-Hosted Design Solution has undergone rigorous technical validation and achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Industrial Software Competency status. This recognizes the Cadence® solution has demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success with electronic systems and semiconductor companies. The Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution enables customers to increase the pace of product innovation while decreasing production and operational overhead by providing a turnkey cloud solution optimized for systems and semiconductor projects.

Achieving the AWS Industrial Software Competency differentiates Cadence as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member who has delivered proven customer success by providing specialized solutions that align with AWS architectural best practices to support the systems and semiconductor industry. In addition, Cadence has also achieved Advanced Technology Partner status in the APN. For more information on AWS Industrial Software Competency, please visit https://aws.amazon.com/partners/competencies/.

The Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution is based on a Cadence-patented architecture and provides software tools in a fully supported, managed and Electronic Design Automation (EDA)-optimized design environment built on AWS that has been customized for company-specific infrastructure and design requirements. The Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution enhances customer cloud success through intelligent scalability that uses the optimal infrastructure type for each unique software workload to optimize cloud performance. The solution supports High-Performance Compute (HPC) instance families, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and the new Amazon EC2 z1d instances. With the Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution, customers gain access to a production-proven, secure cloud environment that empowers them to keep engineering efforts centered on innovation. “As a leading provider of next-generation fingerprint identification technologies, we needed complete CAD and infrastructure support so that we could focus on creating innovative ASIC designs and getting them to market quickly,” said Clint Meyer, director IC Layout and CAD at IDEX Biometrics. “The Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution on AWS provided an optimal return on investment when compared with our own do-it-yourself internal or external solutions. Having previously completed a tapeout in a Cadence on-premise managed environment, we were confident that the Cadence team would ensure our move to the cloud was rapid and low impact, thereby enabling us to focus on our core competency—engineering innovation.”

“The Cadence Cloud-Hosted Design Solution offers differentiated technologies, security and automation capabilities to enhance the usability and value of the AWS environment,” said Carl Siva, vice president of information technology, Cloud Solutions, Cadence. “Becoming an inaugural Advanced Technology Partner in the APN and achieving AWS Industrial Software Competency status demonstrates our commitment to collaborate with AWS to allow our customers to achieve their design goals via the cloud.”

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program ( https://aws.amazon.com/partners/competencies/ ) to help customers identify Consulting and Technology APN Partners with deep industry experience and expertise. To receive the AWS Industrial Software Competency designation, APN Partners undergo rigorous AWS technical validation related to industry-specific technology as well as an assessment of the security, performance and reliability of their solutions.
