Sequans’ mission is to drive the growth of LTE for IoT by ensuring that low-cost LTE-M modules are available to IoT device developers everywhere.  Sequans, with its long-time partner Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC), has reached a major milestone by making available a new LTE-M module, the IMS2, through AT&T’s IoT Accelerator Program.  The IMS2 is based on Sequans’ industry-leading Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT Platform, a field-proven solution that is available today and already operating inside numerous LTE for IoT devices.

“After thousands of hours of testing, development, and optimization, the Monarch-powered IMS2 is so full of IoT features and benefits that developers will be able to simply invoke its capabilities and will not have to develop much,” said Nick Taluja, VP of sales for Sequans. “This means really fast time to market for IoT devices of all kinds.”

The Monarch-based WNC IMS2 module meets ETSI SMT specifications and offers LTE connectivity for multi-design capability in a very compact form factor. The module is available in an ETSI 1915 footprint, supports AT&T’s bands 2, 4, and 12, IoT interfaces, and is an ideal solution for the design of numerous types of IoT devices in numerous markets, including smart home and business, utilities, retail, industrial, and consumer.

Monarch is the industry’s first and most highly optimized LTE-M/NB-IoT chip.  It was the first chip to appear in the market and the first to become operator-certified and deployed.  Modules based on Monarch benefit from the un-equaled long experience Sequans has had with operators and device makers—experience which has enabled Sequans to refine Monarch into the most advanced LTE-M chip in the world today. Monarch delivers the features most in demand by IoT device makers: ultra low power consumption for long battery life, enhanced coverage, extended DRX and PSM for long sleep duration use cases, and programmable RF filtering that enables a single hardware design to operate on any LTE band anywhere in the world.

“Although it is initially targeted to support AT&T’s LTE bands, the IMS2 module is not limited to these bands and can support other bands in any market worldwide without any change in hardware,” said Taluja. “The programmable RF filtering technology of Monarch makes this powerful single SKU capability possible and there are no limits on device types or markets that developers can target with the new IMS2 LTE-M module.”
