FotoNation to Showcase Face/Body Detection and Tracking and Iris Recognition Solutions at Embedded Vision Summit 2017

Dr. Petronel Bigioi, FotoNation General Manager, to Speak on Low Power Deep Learning for Computational Photography

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (APRIL 27, 2017) – Xperi Corporation (Nasdaq: XPER), (“Xperi” or the “Company”) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, FotoNation, will showcase its industry-leading face and body detection and tracking and iris recognition solutions at the upcoming Embedded Vision Summit, taking place May 1-3 at the Santa Clara (Calif.) Convention Center.

At the conference, FotoNation will demonstrate its hybrid computational imaging implementations for face/body detection and tracking and iris recognition. FotoNation’s innovative solutions deliver superior performance, power management, programmability and area by employing programmable deep neural networks engines and proven generic object detection and tracking technologies.

Additionally, Dr. Petronel Bigioi, general manager of FotoNation, will be a featured speaker at the show, delivering a presentation titled “Ultra-Efficient VPU: Low-Power Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Computational Photography.” Dr. Bigioi’s presentation will take place on Tuesday, May 2 from 3:45-4:15 pm. In his presentation, Dr. Petronel Bigioi will focus on how bringing intelligence to the edge enables local devices to see and hear. The presentation outlines how engineers can use deep neural network engines to achieve optimal power, performance, programmability and silicon area for face detection and tracking, person detection and tracking, generic object tracking and more.

In my post about Silexica ( Silexica: Mastering Multicore ) I said that I like to use planes as an analogy for cores in a multi-core system. As I said there: They haven't got appreciably faster but you can have lots of them. If you want to transport 10,000 people from Lo...
