Express Logic Supports STM32 X-CUBE-STL for SIL Functional Safety

X-Ware IoT Platform® Integration with Functional Safety Software Self-Test Libraries Shortens Time to Achieve IEC 61508 Safety Certification

San Diego, CA, October 10, 2018 — Express Logic, provider of the industry-leading X-Ware IoT Platform powered by the popular ThreadX® RTOS, today announced that it has integrated the STMicroelectronics Software Self-Test Libraries (X-CUBE-STL) with the X-Ware IoT Platform for developers using STM32 microcontrollers based on ARM® cores.

X-Ware IoT Platform leverages the X-CUBE-STL to help customers more quickly navigate through the IEC 61508 Safety Integrity Level (SIL2 / SIL3) certification process thus speeding delivery of STM32-based safety-critical products targeting markets such as industrial, motor control, factory automation, power generation/conversion, and medical.

The X-Ware IoT Platform is built on the powerful ThreadX RTOS, which has more than 6.2 billion deployments, and leverages the small footprint and near wirespeed of Express Logic’s NetX Duo™ IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP stack for IoT connectivity. X-Ware IoT Platform is the safest IoT embedded development RTOS and middleware solution on the market, having attained the highest level of safety certifications, including IEC 61508 SIL 4 (the highest, most dependable level as determined by IEC), IEC 62304 Class C, ISO 26262 ASIL D, EN 50128 SW-SIL 4, UL 60730-1 Annex H, CSA E60730-1 Annex H, IEC 60730-1 Annex H, IEC 60335-1 Annex R, and IEC 60335-1 Annex R, 1998. For those devices and applications that must do more than just connect to the IoT, the X-Ware IoT Platform offers a safety-certified FileX® embedded FAT-32/exFAT file system, the GUIX™ GUI development and embedded runtime framework, and the USBX™ embedded host/device USB stack.

“Our software Self-Test Library (X-CUBE-STL) enables our customers to more easily design and certify systems up to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3), saving precious time-to-market,” said Laurent Desseignes, Microcontroller Ecosystem Marketing Manager, STMicroelectronics. “The extensive pre-certifications and industrial-grade design of Express Logic’s X-Ware IoT Platform will help our STM32 customers navigate the IEC 61508 certification process and get to market quicker with safety-critical devices and applications.”

“Adherence to functional safety and process standards is an area of increasing concern in the embedded industry,” said William E. Lamie, President, Express Logic. “Moreover, analysts expect that future projects will face even more compliance requirements, increasing pressure on product development cycles and time-to-market. With its pre-certification and industrial-grade design, the X-Ware IoT Platform will help STM32 developers deliver world-class safety-critical devices and applications more quickly and easily.”
