ECWFG series contributes to automotive applications with high safety and high reliability characteristics

Munich, October 2018: With the advent of the Electric Vehicle market, Panasonic has capitalized on its burgeoning Film dielectric technology, to create new products for on-board charging and powertrain electronics. The new AEC-Q200 qualified ECWFG series (Metallized Polypropylene Film Capacitors) from Panasonic Industry Europe features an operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C; a rated voltage of 630V.DC, and a nominal capacitance range of 1.0µF to 4.7µF. This enables it to cater to most of the high frequency and high current circuitry in this segment.

ECWFG series offers high humidity resistance (85°C, 85% RH, 500V.DC, 1000 hours), high thermal shock resistance (-55°C up to  85°C, 1000 cycles), and a high temperature load test (125°C, 450V.DC, 1000 hours). A flame-retardant plastic case and non-combustible resin further reduce the risk of flammability. The products are fully RoHS compliant.

Furthermore, Panasonic’s original in-house patterned metallization process achieves a very stable capacitance level over the capacitor’s lifetime and therefore guarantees a high reliability for the application. The patterns serve as a fuse mechanism function that prevents catastrophic short mode failure.

Functioning as Power Factor Correction or Smoothing capacitors, ECWFG series is ideal for a broad spectrum of applications including DC/DC, DC/AC, AC/DC converter, input and output filtering, or snubber for industrial power supply, EV / PHEV charger and inverter applications for Renewable Energy.
