C&K Launches New Fully Sealed Construction DIP Switch

Newly announced standard-profile DIP switch offers reliable operation in all applications

NEWTON, Mass., 15 October, 2018 – C&K, one of the world’s most trusted brands of high-quality electromechanical switches, today announced the launch of its new BDB DIP switches. ( https://www.ckswitches.com/products/switches/product-details/DIP/BDB/ ) The traditional full-profile DIP switch delivers a new generation price-competitive solution for all applications that require a reliable DIP switch with an extended actuator for easy operation.

For switches with single-pole, single-throw (SPST) circuitry, the BDB DIP component offers 2 to 12 (except 11) switch positions in a small PCB-mount package. Each switch is rated for 10,000 make-and-break cycles per switch position with a contact rating of 100 mA at 50 V DC, and contact resistance less than 50 milliohms.

Rated for operation between -40°C and +85°C, the BDB is housed in a red PA46 UL94V-0-rated plastic housing. The actuator and housing are UL94V-0 glass-filled polyester (PBT), and the contacts and terminals are gold plated for reliability. The switch is shock and vibration resistant with no unwanted switch opening of greater than 10 μs, making it ideal for use in harsh environments.

As a fully sealed device, the new switch needs no special treatment during PCB assembly and washing operations, saving time and cost.

“We pride ourselves on offering high-performance, cost-effective switches to enhance our customers’ designs,” said Jeffrey Phan, Global Product Manager, C&K. “Our latest BDB DIP switch provides a high-quality and reliable solution for all applications, including those operating in a rugged environment.”

The BDB DIP switch joins C&K’s expansive family of DIP switches, which includes surface-mount half-pitch DIP switches, low-profile and standard-profile DIP switches, rotary and coded DIP switches, SIP switches, and jumper switches with a variety of extended actuator and flush actuator styles. The company’s new BDB DIP switch is an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications, including industrial control address switches, function control, and logic switching for computers and peripherals.
