Acromag’s New Ethernet Communication Modules Offer Optional Power Over Ethernet

WIXOM, Mich., Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Acromag announced today an addition to their PCIe-based AcroPack® modules, the AP580 Series. These mini boards provide a single Ethernet 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps port. An optional Power Over Ethernet (POE) model, AP580E-POE-LF, provides 52V DC and up to 10 watts of power to powered devices (PD). The POE Ethernet communication avoids other traffic on a network and is ideal for a video camera, VOIP phone, or any other PD devices. A down-facing plug-in 100 pin connector ensures a secure connection for your I/O. This board supports Intel i210 Ethernet controller PROset to assist with diagnostics, tests, and configuration. These modules plug into AcroPack® PCIe, VPX, and XMC carriers in any combination for embedded applications running on Linux®, Windows®, or VxWorks® operating systems. AcroPack AP580 modules start at less than $850 and carriers at $750.

For easy integration of the AcroPack modules with real-time software application programs, Acromag offers C libraries for VxWorks® and other operating systems. The libraries provide generic routines (source code included) to handle reads, writes, interrupts, and other functions. Demonstration programs enable the developer to quickly exercise the I/O modules before attaching the routines to the application program. This diagnostic tool can save hours of troubleshooting and debugging.

“For more than 25 years Acromag has been a world leader in the design of Industry Pack I/O modules” stated Russell Nieves, Acromag’s Vice President of Sales. “We believe that the time is right to offer a complete tech refresh of the concept of Industry Pack I/O with the addition of the new AcroPack® I/O product offering.”

This COTS line of AcroPacks are SWaP-C optimized, ROHS compliant and ideal for scientific development labs, military and aerospace applications, the defense industry and automation applications.
