Actions Semiconductor Adopts S2C’s 4th Generation Rapid SoC/ASIC Prototyping System

Shanghai, China – February 16, 2011 – S2C Inc., a leading rapid SoC/ASIC prototyping solutions provider, announced that Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd., a leading fabless design company that provides mixed-signal and multimedia SoC solutions for portable consumer electronics, purchased S2C’s 4th generation Stratix IV FPGA based S4 TAI Logic Modules.

Actions Semiconductor has been successfully using S2C’s rapid SoC/ASIC prototyping system since 2009. Based on this success, after a careful and thorough evaluation, Actions decided to proliferate its use of S2C’s products to accelerate their design process by placing a major order for the dual Stratix IV 820E based boards and TAI Player Pro software.

“We have adopted S2C’s rapid SoC prototyping solutions, including Xilinx FPGA based V5 TAI logic module hardware and TAI Player Pro software in our design flow for a long time. We are impressed by the reliability, extendibility of the V5 hardware and the powerful, and user friendly TAI player software. S2C’s solution is one of the key factors making our success,” said Mr. Fang Liang, Senior Manager of System Department, Actions Semiconductor. “Today’s SoC/ASIC complexity and software development tasks are increasing, we decided to continue using S2C’s latest S4 TAI Logic Module as our SoC/ASIC prototyping platform. S2C provides an easily way to port designs from Xilinx to Altera. S2C’s excellent technical support helped us to meet our SoC/ASIC prototype challenges.”

“Repeat business validates that we are adding significant value to our customer’s design process. By working closely with leading edge companies like Actions, we continue to innovate to deliver our customers the most advanced SoC/ASIC prototyping solutions. Our fourth generation S4 TAI logic module provides better performance, higher capacity and new features aimed at rapid SoC prototyping.” said Mon-Ren Chene, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of S2C. “Our goal is to help our customers to get to the market first.”

About S4 TAI Logic Modules

The S4 TAI Logic Modules are S2C’s fourth generation SoC/ASIC prototyping hardware and can be configured with one or two Altera Stratix IV 820E/530E FPGA devices to fit for ASIC/SoC designs ranging from 5.3M to 16.4M ASIC gates on one board. The S4 TAI Logic Module has enhanced power management, noise shielding, and cooling mechanism that enables system prototypes to attain higher performance and reliability. The S4 TAI Logic Modules can run both DDR2 and DDR3 memory up to 533Mbps (DDR2) and 800Mbps (DDR3). Users can easily download FPGAs, generate programmable clocks, and self-test hardware from S2C’s TAI Player Software via straightforward USB2.0 interface.
