Barco Silex and Intrinsic ID to Integrate Security Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – April 24, 2017 – Intrinsic ID and Barco Silex today announced the companies are partnering to offer their customers the benefit of integrated security technologies by enabling the use of Intrinsic ID’s BROADKEY or QUIDDIKEY in combination with Barco Silex’s ESECURE.

Intrinsic ID’s BROADKEY and QUIDDIKEY are secure key management solutions that dynamically reconstruct on-chip secret keys without ever storing those keys. Both products are ideally suited to the growing demand for the generation, distribution and protection of cryptographic keys for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Barco Silex’s ESECURE is a complete standalone module that enables security applications by shielding the secret information from the non-secure application running on the main processor. The firewall prevents any unauthorized access to the secret data, and the secure controller embedded in the ESECURE module keeps full control of the execution of the security functions.

This partnership also enables Intrinsic ID to offer Barco Silex’s world-class hardware crypto blocks as part of CITADEL, the world’s first SRAM PUF-based IP and key provisioning solution, which Intrinsic ID announced in February.

“Our partnership with Barco Silex will yield a more tightly integrated approach that will make it easier for our mutual customers to implement advanced security solutions for IoT devices, as well as other critical applications such as securing payments,” said Pim Tuyls, chief executive officer of Intrinsic ID. “We look forward to extending the power of SRAM PUF through our continued joint work.”

“Although the integration of the Intrinsic ID’s SRAM PUF technology in our ESECURE module has already been successful for custom security developments, we are sure that this collaboration will result in added value for our security products and our mutual customers,” said Thierry Watteyne, chief executive officer of Barco Silex. “We believe this partnership will allow for a widening of our customer coverage.”

Barco Silex’s highly scalable and flexible silicon-proven security IP for embedded systems is used in the ever-growing connected world of the IoT. All of the turnkey solutions are compliant with most common industry standards, including those of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). IP integrators can benefit from decades of experience in security ASIC design. The embedded security solutions cover authentication, confidentiality, integrity and protection against various side channel attacks for a broad range of markets such as IoT (including healthcare), automotive (V2x, intra vehicle), wearables, industrial, data center, digital storage, digital payment, defense or general HSMs.

Intrinsic ID’s patented SRAM PUF technology derives secure keys based on unique properties inherent in semiconductors. These keys are only generated when required and don’t remain stored on the system, hence providing the highest level of protection. SRAM PUF-based security can be found in devices and protect financial transactions, user privacy and military secrets.
