DDC-I and Logicircuit to Deliver Enhanced DO-178C and DO-254 Support for Xilinx All Programmable Devices

Phoenix, AZ. March 22, 2017. DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, and Logicircuit, a leading supplier of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) intellectual property (IP) cores and professional services for DO-254 and DO-178C compliance, today announced they are collaborating to provide Xilinx customers with a comprehensive solution for meeting the stringent requirements of safety-critical compliance for the aerospace industry.

Today’s modern All Programmable devices offer powerful platforms for aerospace development. These Xilinx FPGA and SOC solutions provide a unique combination of high-performance multiprocessing and customizable hardware capability, making them ideal for compute-intensive, safety-critical applications. Leveraging these features, however, means complying with the rigorous safety-critical development standards DO-178C (for software) and DO-254 (for hardware). DDC-I and Logicircuit are bringing together their respective DO-178C and DO-254 knowledge and extensive history supporting these standards to offer end-to-end solutions for aerospace companies seeking to leverage the most advanced hardware and software capabilities available.

“We’re excited to be working with Logicircuit to provide aerospace developers a turnkey solution for reusable safety-critical software, hardware, and certification based on Xilinx All Programmable devices and the Deos RTOS,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “Avionics developers now have an efficient solution for developing, deploying and certifying safety-critical software and customizable Xilinx All Programable hardware that meets the most demanding DO-178C and DO-254 specifications.”

DDC-I provides integration and certification services for DO-178. The company’s flagship safety-critical RTOS, Deos, has been used in hundreds of avionics applications on commercial and military aircraft. Certified to DO-178 DAL A since 1998, the time and space partitioned RTOS features deterministic real-time response and employs patented technologies for reducing resource contention. Deos is the only certifiable time and space partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178, Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) processes from the very first day of its product development. Deos’ unique modular design and verification evidence provides the easiest, lowest cost path to DO-178C DAL A certification, the highest level of safety criticality.

Logicircuit provides several critical elements required for airborne use of Xilinx All Programmable devices. Designers can utilize the programmable hardware portion of these devices for their custom design functions. This custom design, and any Xilinx IP the designer may choose for their design, are subject to DO-254 compliance. Logicircuit provides professional service support to manage and perform all the activities associated with DO-254 compliance, working directly with the client’s design team. Logicircuit also re-engineers the COTS IP, performing all activities and providing the artifacts to demonstrate compliance of the IP cores.

“The combination of DDC-I and Logicircuit products and services provides developers of aerospace applications an end-to-end solution for powerful and compliant airborne software and hardware systems,” said  Joe Goode, president at Logicircuit.  “Logicircuit has worked closely with DDC-I to provide a turnkey safety-critical platform for Xilinx All Programable devices that addresses all aspects of DO-178C and DO-254 software and hardware certification, all the way down to the drivers required for the custom I/O peripherals created using Xilinx programmable logic.”
