LDRA integration with ARM DS-5 Development Studio provides the first “Road to Certification” solution

Wirral, UK – October 25, 2016 -> LDRA , the leading provider of standards compliance (compliance), automated software verification, source code analysis and test tools, today announced the further integration of the industry-leading LDRA Tool Suite® with ARM ® DS-5 Development Studio (DS-5) known. The integrated “Road to Certification” solution from LDRA and the ARM Fixed Virtual Platform (FVP) allows embedded system designers to test their applications before they read the target hardware. This in turn leads to a significant reduction of time and costs in the development of applications for safety and security critical markets such as the automotive industry, medical equipment and industrial control systems.

The peculiarity of the LDRA tool suite is that it ensures compliance with the standards and traceability throughout the software development life cycle – from the Functional-safety and security requirements on the design and coding to verification. LDRA plug-in for DS-5, which supports virtually all compilers of the ARM ecosystem, goes even further by leveraging the FVPs of ARM to automate and coordinate the review process of ARM-based applications, even before the hardware is available stands. This integrated environment allows engineers to commence initially on a FVP with the testing activities, then move on availability of hardware on the target system. For this purpose, only a single option in the GUI LDRA has to be changed. This close integration is not least ensured that the developer can make the transition from the FVP on the real target system in its build and integration systems. This saves time in the development of test cases and provides the certainty that behave the test cases in the real target environment identical.

“The ability to test an application from a behavioral perspective before availability of the target hardware represents a significant breakthrough in the methodology for embedded system design is,” says Ian Hennell, LDRA Operations Director. “Arises with this unprecedented integration of LDRA Tool Suite and ARM DS-5 environment, the very first” Road to Certification “solution, on the one hand reduces development time drastically and on the other hand ensures that the design meets the safety standards. The solution also paves the way for a much more flexible approach to the business and product development strategies, because the developer can use the hardware, architecture and IDE / compiler switch providers without having to worry about higher compliance risks. “

The LDRA tool suite includes a powerful ARM DS-5 Safety Qualification Kit, which supports all ARM formats and compliance with Functional Safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 62304 or IEC 61508 ensures. The LDRA solution also supports MISRA coding guidelines, which improves the quality, consistency, clarity and maintainability of software products. In the networked world of IoT, the combined solution of LDRA and ARM has the necessary efficiency and flexibility for development organizations that need to be ever more stringent Functional-safety and security standards. The capabilities of the solution cause along with their solid integration into the ARM FVP environment a significant acceleration of the testing process and make it possible to simultaneously carry out the testing activities with the development. In addition to an increase in productivity of the development and quality assurance teams, this ensures a faster time to market the product.

The LDRA tool suite will be demonstrated at the following event:

ARM TechCon , 25 -27. October Santa Clara (California / USA), Stand 212th
