IEEE Standards Association and Accellera Systems Initiative Renew IEEE Get Program Sponsorship

PISCATAWAY, NJ, 29 February 2016 – IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), and Accellera Systems Initiative (Accellera), a non-profit organization dedicated to developing technology standards that benefit the worldwide electronics industry, today announced a renewed partnership to provide IEEE standards for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) under the IEEE Get Program. The agreement builds upon a successful program launched in 2010 with a single standard, and that was expanded in 2011 to five standards. Since its inception, the Accellera sponsored IEEE Get Program has resulted in more than 60,000 downloads, providing no cost access of electronic design and verification standards to engineers and chip designers worldwide. The terms of the renewed sponsorship will include a portfolio of 10 standards to be provided over a 10-year period beginning this year.

“We’re pleased to strengthen our partnership with Accellera to increase access, adoption and implementation of standards through the IEEE Get Program,” said Konstantinos Karachalios, managing director of IEEE-SA. “IEEE and Accellera share a common interest in promoting open, global standards in order to accelerate technological innovation and help spur market growth and expansion. The IEEE Get Program is a good example of how we can pool our resources to ensure best design practices in the rapidly evolving EDA industry.”

The Accellera sponsored IEEE Get Program currently includes the following standards:

  • IEEE 1666TM  Open SystemC Language Reference Manual
  • IEEE 1685TM – IP-XACT, Standard Structure for Packaging, Integrating, and Reusing IP within Tool Flows
  • IEEE 1800TM – SystemVerilog – Unified Hardware Design, Specification and Verification Language
  • IEEE 1801TM – IEEE Standard for Design and Verification of Low Power, Energy Aware Electronic System

“Our partnership with IEEE-SA has become essential to open, global standards adoption worldwide and we’re pleased to extend and expand our sponsorship of the IEEE Get Program,” said Shishpal Rawat, chair of Accellera. “Our ongoing collaboration sets the stage for the continued free delivery and use of key market-driven standards that are proven to increase designer productivity and lower the cost of product development.”
