Plano, Texas – January 27th, 2016 – Targeting mobile phones, wearable devices and similar battery-powered applications, the AP3405 DC-DC buck converter introduced by Diodes Incorporated delivers high efficiency under light and heavy loads. Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components while a small U-DFN2020-8 package also saves board area.
The AP3405 current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter operates with a 2.3V to 5.5V VIN range and supplies an output from 0.7V to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5%, up to 600mA. A low 32?A quiescent current draw helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions.
Comprehensive protection features built into the AP3405 protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP).
The AP3405 in the U-DFN2020-8 package is priced at $0.33 each in 1k quantities. Further information is available from www.diodes.com
