Micrium’s RTOS Ecosystem Ported to the Freescale® i.MX 6SoloX Processor

Weston, Florida – April 7, 2015 – Micrium, the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems, today announced that its completeRTOS ecosystem has been ported to Freescale’s new high-performance heterogeneous multicore i.MX 6SoloX applications processor, to run on both its ARM® Cortex®-A9 and Cortex-M4 cores. This port includes the company’s RTOS kernels, TCP/IP, CAN, USB and File System stacks, which are especially well suited for industrial and automotive applications.

“The Micrium uC/OS RTOS and tools are ideal to support the extensive connectivity capabilities of this new platform,” said Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. “The industrial and automotive markets require targeted solutions to address their specific needs. Using Micrium’s uC/OS-III kernel along with the other RTOS components significantly accelerates development of i.MX 6SoloX designs.”

“The i.MX 6SoloX is the first device utilizing both the ARM Cortex-A9 and ARM Cortex-M4 cores,” said Alex Dopplinger, a Microcontroller business development manager at Freescale. “Micrium is our first operating system partner to offer their RTOS to run on both core types in the i.MX 6SoloX processor, as well as key interfaces on our SABRE Board development platform, such as dual gigabit Ethernet, CAN, SDIO and PCIe connections for cellular and Wi-Fi® radio connectivity. Customers are excited to leverage these embedded software components to help speed their time to market.”

Micrium is providing a trial license for uC/OS-III, which grants a free, fully functional 30-day evaluation. Micrium also plans to provide example projects which include uC/OS-III source code. The latest version of the demonstration projects targeting the i.MX 6SoloX SABRE Boards are available on its website.
