Digi-Key Expands Mentor Graphics’ EDA Tools Portfolio with New Features & Low-Priced Premium Bundles

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA – Digi-Key, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced an expanded suite of the recently released professional-level Mentor Graphics EDA/CAD tools.  Premium versions of both the Designer Schematic and Designer Layout tools are now available, featuring unlimited connections.  In addition, Import from xDX Designer and PADS Layout for reference designs, as well as import from third party schematic capture and layout tools has been added.

Starting today, premium versions of the Designer Schematic and Designer Layout products are available exclusively from Digi-Key at special 90-day discounted price points of $349 and $599, respectively. Or, the dual product bundle is available for $849.  Annual product subscriptions can be purchased exclusively from Digi-Key.

“Our partnership with Digi-Key is a way to understand the needs of a wide range of design engineers around the globe,” said Henry Potts, Vice President and General Manager of Mentor Graphics Systems Design Division. “We’re committed to continuing to respond to customer demand by offering the right mix of capabilities and options in support of the product design process.”

Mentor Graphics’ PartQuest™ is a fully integrated website that merges Digi-Key part numbers into symbols and footprints, reducing manual errors and saving time and cost. With these innovative tools, design engineers can easily complete an entire circuit and printed circuit board design themselves or leverage third party PCB layout houses.

As part of the intensive collaboration and product development process, Digi-Key and Mentor Graphics completed thorough beta testing which included more than 300 participants around the globe.  As a result, the companies validated the need and market demand for an affordable professional-level tool for the design engineer.

“The interest in Mentor has been strong with hundreds of people requesting evaluation versions and software licenses,” said Randall Restle, Director of Applications Engineering at Digi-Key. “This motivates us to continue releasing new EDA tools with different kinds of features, capabilities and price points – enabling us to serve a broader range of design engineers.”

Mentor Graphics and Digi-Key collaborated to create solutions able to address escalating demand from professional engineers for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software at an affordable price point while facilitating access to Digi-Key’s vast inventory of over four million electronic components.

With the Designer tools, engineers can easily produce schematic designs, untethered from Approved Parts Lists (APLs) and specific PCB houses that typically require the use of proprietary CAD tools.

The new premium products are available at reduced price points for 90 days.
The special offer ends May 25, 2015.

What are the Differences Between an Integrated ADC and a Standalone ADC?
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Microchip
Many designs today require some form of analog to digital conversion but how you implement an ADC into your design can make a big difference when it comes to accuracy and precision. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Iman Chalabi from Microchip and Amelia Dalton investigate the benefits of both integrated ADC solutions and standalone ADCs. They discuss the roles that internal switching noise, process technology, and design complexity play when choosing the right ADC solution for your next design.
