eXtremeDB Embedded Database System Shown Compatible with AdaCore’s GNAT Pro Toolset for Ada Programming Language

December 8, 2014 — McObject® announced that its eXtremeDB® In-Memory Database System (IMDS) has been tested and proven compatible with AdaCore’s GNAT Pro Ada development environment. This combination brings the speed and reliability of McObject’s embedded database system product family to Ada developers using AdaCore’s toolset.

The Ada language and AdaCore’s tools are heavily used in real-time and embedded systems that demand maximum safety, security and reliability, delivered through features including highly analyzable code (making performance more predictable) and the ability to restrict run-time features that will be used. GNAT Pro has been adopted widely in technology market segments ranging from commercial and defense avionics to transportation systems and medical systems.

GNAT Pro supports mixed language development, allowing programmers to easily interface between Ada and other languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python. The eXtremeDB database system has C/C++ roots: it is written in C and typically accessed in real-time embedded systems via its C/C++ function library. Using GNAT Pro’s mixed-language capabilities, developers have successfully integrated eXtremeDB into Ada applications, gaining the benefits of eXtremeDB features including fast data storage, retrieval and sorting; multi-user concurrent access; and transactions that support the ACID (Atomic, Consistent, Isolated and Durable) properties.

Like GNAT Pro, eXtremeDB is used widely in applications requiring low latency and maximum up-time and predictability, including civilian and defense avionics, transportation systems, industrial automation and communications equipment.
