Get the Next Bright Idea with the Intel Edison Available from Mouser

September 30, 2014 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., is now shipping the Intel® Edison, a small yet powerful Intel computer about the size of a postage stamp. The Edison is designed to lower the barriers to entry for the next generation of consumer products by providing a full-featured, low-power computer in a form-factor small enough to fit almost anywhere.

The new Intel Edison, available from Mouser Electronics, is powered by a 22-nm Intel Atom SoC that includes a dual-core, dual-threaded CPU running at 500Mhz and a 32-bit Quark MCU running at 100Mhz. With the Edison, Intel has taken innovation to the next level by including an unheard of feature set in a small form factor. Measuring only 35.5 x 25 x 3.7mm, the Intel Edison includes 1GByte of RAM, 4Gbytes of Flash and supports dual-band 801.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and 2.1 EDR. A micro-USB OTG port is available, and 40 general purpose I/O pins (GPIOs) are exposed via the high density Hirose DF40 connector. The Intel Edison can be powered by a 3.3V to 4.5V power supply and draws only 13mW in standby mode.

Intel Edison will initially support C/C++ with an Arduino® development board, and will later support Node.js, Python, the Viper RTOS and Visual Programming support in the near future.

Intel Edison includes a device-to-device and device-to-cloud connectivity framework to enable cross-device communication and a cloud-based, multi-tenant, time-series analytics service that is available with the purchase of an Intel Edison module or kit.
