Emulex Accelerates Verification Closure with Synopsys Verification IP for Ethernet

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a global leader providing software, IP and services used to accelerate innovation in chips and electronic systems, today announced that Emulex, a leader in network connectivity, monitoring and management, has adopted Synopsys Verification IP (VIP) for the Ethernet 1G/10G/40G/100G protocol.

“We adopted Synopsys verification IP because time-to-market and the ability to deliver the highest speeds and newest features to our customers are critical,” said Margie Evashenk, chief development executive, Emulex. “We have collaborated with Synopsys over many project generations for the verification of our Ethernet-controllers, and trust them to provide the emerging Ethernet speeds, features, compliance test suites and ease-of-integration that enable us to hit our aggressive project schedules.”

Synopsys VIP for 40G/100G Ethernet is based on Synopsys’ native SystemVerilog and native UVM architecture, offering ease of use, ease of integration, performance, configurability, coverage, and debug within UVM environments. In addition, Synopsys VIP for Ethernet supports Synopsys’ Protocol Analyzer, a protocol-centric debug environment. These capabilities substantially increase user productivity for the challenging and time-consuming task of protocol verification.

“With the growing size and complexity of today’s SoCs, Verification IP is becoming an increasingly important technology to help customers verify their chip designs,” said Debashis Chowdhury, vice president of R&D for the Synopsys Verification Group. “Synopsys’ portfolio of 100 percent native SystemVerilog VIP provides system-on-chip (SoC) teams with the verification and compliance environments for industry protocols they need to build and verify differentiated products and accelerate their time to market.”

Availability

The Synopsys Verification IP for Ethernet 1G/10G/40G/100G is available today. Ethernet VIP and the UNH test suites, in source-code, are available to standalone title owners, as part of the Synopsys VIP Library, and as part of Verification Compiler™.  Synopsys’ DesignWare® Ethernet 1G/10G/40G/100G Controllers and Enterprise 10G and 12G PHYs are also available now.
