Mentor Graphics Nucleus Innovate Program With Atmel Provides Integrated Solution for Internet-of-Things (IoT) Application Development

WILSONVILLE, Ore., April 29, 2014 – Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that Atmel Corporation is part of the Mentor® Embedded Nucleus® Innovate Program targeting the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) market. The Nucleus Innovate Program provides a free license of the industry-leading Mentor Embedded Nucleus RTOS and Sourcery™ CodeBench tools for Atmel’s SAM3x and SAM4x microcontroller (MCU) devices for businesses under $1M in annual revenue to kick-start their embedded projects. Mentor Graphics’ collaboration with Atmel will accelerate the development of medical, industrial, smart energy,  and consumer applications, powering the next generation of devices for IoT.

With the emergence of internet-enabled and networked devices that can communicate with each other, these small businesses and start-ups can take advantage of the Mentor Embedded Innovate Program to initiate new IoT product development. A board support package (BSP) will be available for Atmel’s SAM3X ARM Cortex M3 MCUs and SAM4X Cortex-M4 MCUs. Atmel’s device families, combined with the Mentor Embedded RTOS and tools, are ideal for applications that require high-performance connectivity, power efficiency and high memory densities for today’s advanced connected devices. As a result, embedded developers have a complete embedded environment to develop their system designs leveraging Atmel MCUs with advanced efficiency and productivity.

The Nucleus Innovate Program is ideal for applications where small footprint, high-performance, and low power matter. Customers using Atmel MCUs can apply the Nucleus RTOS and Mentor Embedded tool capabilities with ease and assurance. Easy-to-use demonstrations and configurations help shorten development time for medical, industrial, automotive and consumer applications—from days to minutes.
