ALi Corp. Launches Its Very First Networking Media Processor for IPTV/OTT and Hybrid STB

ALi Corporation (3041 TT), a leading provider of set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, today announced the launch of its M3911 Networking Media Processor, the first in the industry to feature fast sleep and resume function. Enabling full HD functionalities and supporting most standards and protocols, M3911 delivers the best in breed performance, and low power consumption at the most optimized price point required for integration into today’s Networking Media Player, IPTV, OTT (Over-the-top) Device, and Hybrid STB (Set-top Box).

M3911 Networking Media Processor supports an embedded 10/100 Ethernet MAC, USB ports for Wi-Fi connection as well as all mainstream HD AV formats, including MPEG2 /MPEG4/H.264/VC1 and VP8 promoted by Google. As such, M3911 allows TV-viewers to stream on-line movies, music, games, social media updates and other contents to HDTVs seamlessly and wirelessly without being concerned about decoder compatibilities. Besides, built on the open-source Linux Kernel based platform, M3911 Networking Media Processor enables 3rd party partners to more easily and rapidly develop and deploy new applications and save tremendous time during development.

Advancing the latest market trend for lower power consumption, M3911 is the first Networking Media Processor to feature the fast sleep and resume function that has been exclusively provided in PCs. Compared to competitors’ existing solutions, M3911 saves nearly 50% of the consumed power with additional features such as enabling end devices to have a shorter boot time, and supporting auto-switch off for those not-in-use visual outputs.

According to a newly released In-Stat report, global unit shipments for Networking Media player, IPTV and OTT device will increase from 3.6 million units in 2011 to 15 million units in 2015, representing a CAGR at 43%.

Aimed at providing compelling cost advantage, fast and seamless deployment, as well as efficient energy management for integration into Networking Media players, IPTV and OTT devices, M3911 is sampling now and to be available in high-volume production quantities in the fourth quarter of 2011.
