NASA puts nationwide traffic control system for drones to the test

If even half of the businesses hankering to get drones into US airspace are successful, these skies will soon be a whole lot busier than they are today. Looking to avert gridlock at altitude, NASA has been working on an air traffic management system for drones and today is carrying out its first coordinated testing, looking to see just how well it accommodates flights at different locations across the country.

A source for Gizmag was http://www.nasa.gov/release/ames/nasa-invites-media-to-watch-faa-test-sites-fly-24-drones-testing-air-traffic-management which is a same-day invite for media to watch one of the 7 test sites at 5pm on the 18th?…nope, 19th-21st weather allowing. Not seeing the liveblogging. Google and Amazon published UTM-ish protocols, NASA is getting in there…FAA have written a ‘pay me’ note on a lift truck I suppose.
