RTOS Smackdown
In this week’s Fish Fry, I investigate the battle brewing (in press releases at least) between Green Hills and QNX and why this may not be the first time this sort of thing has happened. I interview Jeff Jussel (element14) about their "knode" and how exactly element14 fits into the grand scheme of electronic design. As a precursor to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week, I also check out one of the strangest pieces of embedded design for consumers that I have ever seen.

In this week's Fish Fry, I check out a seriously strange case of embedded design for consumers. What's your favorite example of odd embedded design?Posted on January 08, 2012 at 3:09 AM
Thank you so much Amelia.I'll use it to buy these:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-AS6NG-Alkaline-Screwdriver/dp/B0...
http://www.amazon.com/KeyTronicEMS-2MOUSEP2L-Rohs-Optical-Mouse/dp/...
http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Glue-4200101-Epoxy-Syringe/dp/B001Z3C...
http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-6061-T6-Rectangular-Thick-Length/dp/...
with the aluminium bar i'll build the frame of a cheap high torque servo rc .
The mouse , coupled with a cd mounted on the motor shaft , will be used to get the position control.
The glue will stick all together in the right shape....
Of course I'll need to pay the required attention to avoid to stick my fingers in the mess... but it will worth it.
With the addition of an H bridge and a cheap micro , the result will be very similar to one of these:

Odd embedded design? Zigbee. A slow protocol for small devices. Really, your betting against Moore's Law?Sorry, one of those days.
I went to CES and toured the "adult" exhibit. Many interesting products and designs. There are things you can never unsee once seen. Still, very interesting.
